Mrs. Virginia Wyolene Goodnight, age 77 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Gordon County on April 3, 1932, daughter of the late Cecil and Mattie Lou Owens McCrary. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene "Red" Goodnight.
Mrs. Goodnight was retired from Mannington Mills, and had been a member of the Salem Baptist Church for 44 years.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Bobby Duvall of Calhoun; a sister, Charlotte Stewart of Calhoun; and two grandchildren, Adam Duvall and Erin Hyder and her husband Jacob.
Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Wyolene Goodnight will be conducted Tuesday, January 12th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Bert Vaughn and Rev. Walter Hare officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordon Memorial Gardens. Music will be arranged by William and Jane Roberts. Active pallbearers will include Adam Duvall, Jacob Hyder, Jerry Clark, Kenneth Charvatt, Charles Phillips, and Gary Bowman. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 1:15pm.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
