Zane Roger Barfield

Mr. Zane Roger Barfield, 78, of Calhoun, departed this life on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024, at Erlanger Medical Center after fighting a 28-day battle for his life from injuries received in a motorcycle-automobile accident.

Mr. Barfield was born on November 18, 1945, in Lafayette, Georgia, the son of the late Earl Junior Barfield and Katie Bell Alexander Barfield. He was a General Contractor before retiring and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was inducted on December 22, 1965, and was honorably discharged on November 16, 1967. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Sharpshooter (Rifle) Badge. His last duty assignment was with the US Army Engineer School-C, 1st US Army. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed riding his two-wheeler and three-wheeler motorcycles.

Survivors include his daughters, Kitty Faye Couch and her husband Jesse and Angela Lowrean Edwards and her husband Robert; grandchildren Ariel Bree Couch, Jazmine Lowrean Couch, Austin Zane Barfield, Timothy Michael VanDyke, Jessica Faye VanDyke, and Avery Oneal Grant; and sister Nora Susie Smith.
