Zatavia Chante Bowman

Zatavia Chante Bowman, age 9 of Calhoun, went to her heavenly home on March 15, 2014. She was born in Bartow County, GA on March 12, 2005, daughter of Solomon and Alexzandria Bowman Penny. Preceding her in death is her great-grandfather, John Walker; an aunt, Bridgett Manning-Penny; and grandfather, Robert Bowman.

Zatavia was a third-grader at Calhoun Elementary School.

She leaves behind her mother and father, Alexzandria Bowman Penny and Solomon Penny; a brother, Kamryn Penny; grandmothers, Sheila Walker of Calhoun and Raequel Penny of Atlanta; grandfather, Terrell Holloman of Cincinnati, OH; uncles, Robert Bowman of Cartersville, Bilal Penny of Atlanta, Elijah Cole of Atlanta, Jamarcus Branch of Cartersville, Cornelius Bowman of Hattiesburg, MS, and Montrell Branch of Cartersville; aunts, Danyelle Bowman of Hattiesburg, MS, and KeAndra Bowman of Hattiesburg, MS ;and great-grandmothers, Mary Walker of Louin, MS, and Ann Penny of Cincinnati. A host of cousins, god-mothers, aunts, uncles, classmates and friends, as well as teachers and staff of Calhoun Elementary School also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Zatavia Chante Bowman will be held Thursday, March 20th at 6:00 PM from the Trinity Baptist Church, 1170 Rome Road SW, Calhoun, GA 30701. Calhoun Primary School and Calhoun Elementary School teachers, staff, and students will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Trinity Baptist Church Thursday from 3:00 PM until the service hour of 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Greater Community Bank of Calhoun, c/o Calhoun City Schools for the family of Zatavia Bowman.
